Keith Mongan was born in 1975, the fourth son of six boys and was brought up in Dublin, Ireland.
After studying Art & Design in Ballyfermot College, he worked on various historical building restoration and conservation projects including Trinity Collage, City Hall, Christ Church Cathedral, Saint Andrews Church and the Gaiety Theatre.

Keith took part in European cultural programs on location in Jutland, Denmark, working on a project to restore Viking villages from their origins. This also involved a residency where he studied Danish and participated in many cultural and musical events.

He then embarked on a round the world trip from which he drew inspiration for his early work. The emotional response to these travels was to commit himself to his passion and become a full time artist.

Keith moved to Corsica in 2007 where the abundance of light would have a revolutionary effect on his work. He discovered that altering almost “chopping” his paintbrush forced him to paint with a new movement more natural to his hand and eye, allowing him to relay his vision in a more realistic way. Capturing the very substance of the rugged landscape that surrounded him. This work can touch on becoming sculptural yet always maintains the basic elements of fluidity.

Recently back living and working in Dublin, he has been invited by the Labourd Gallery in Saint Jean de luz France to engage in a series of paintings in May 2010. Each summer this small fishing village becomes Mecca for artists and art lovers alike. From the 27th of September till the 30th of October Keith’s work will be viewable throughout various venues, at the annual Ranelagh Arts Festival. He also exhibits work with the long established Green Gallery in Dublin.

Always pushing artistic boundaries Keith strives to deconstruct and reinvent artistic techniques with an unerring ambition and love for his work and his industry.
